If you are out in the real world working at a job, chances are you didn’t get to have a three day weekend in February. Fortunately for me, I am still in school, and as a result of this, I got to take the day off on President’s Day (and since President’s Day was on a Monday, this meant a full three day weekend for me).

While a lot of my friends simply sat around and didn’t do much with their three day weekend, I decided that I wanted to actually use this time for something. Although I had seen just about all of my family members less than two months ago for Christmas, the one person I didn’t get to see was my Grandma. She lives in Atlanta, and because she is older and has some health problems, she was unable to travel to be with the rest of us for Christmas.

Since I had missed seeing her, I scooped up an airline ticket to Atlanta for the Friday of my three day weekend. Once I got to Atlanta, I also picked up an airport car rental, and then headed over to her house.

I honestly can’t describe just how happy she was to see me. I could tell that my visit literally meant the world to her, and it just felt really good to be able to make someone I care about so happy.

I thought last week was going to turn into a really bad week. The reason that I thought this was because when I went out to my car to go to work last Monday morning, I could not get my car to start. As you may know from personal experience, this is never a good experience to have. Fortunately, I stayed calm, and instead of throwing a temper tantrum, I called my mechanic and asked what I should do.

I have been going to the same mechanic for over ten years, and this situation is a perfect example of why I have stuck with him. Not only did my mechanic say that he was going to send out a complementary tow truck to take my car into the shop, but he also said that he had connections at a local rental car company, so he could call them and get a discounted rental car for me to use in Atlanta while my car was being fixed. Although my car was in the shop all week, I didn’t have to miss out on anything thanks to the rental car that my mechanic got for me to use.

I am so excited to fly down to Atlanta and attend my niece’s graduation. Since this is December (instead of May), you may be wondering why and how my niece is graduating. Well, because I am so proud of her and excited about this event, I would be happy to share all of this information with you. My niece is graduating in December, because she is graduating in just three and a half years. Her high school has a fast track program that allows students who go above and beyond the normal workload to graduate a semester earlier than their peers, and my niece is such a smart girl that she decided to undertake this challenge (which she successfully conquered).

The reason that she is doing this is so she can start college early. What’s really cool about her situation is that she has already taken a semester’s worth of college hours, and once that is combined with this upcoming semester, my niece is going to be an eighteen year old sophomore in college, which is a very impressive accomplishment. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this amazing girl!

I don’t know about you, but I can honestly say that I love the holidays. Not only do I love the fact that just about everyone seems to be happier than usual when the holidays come around, but I also love that I get to spend a significant amount of time with my family. I know that a lot of people complain about having to spend time with their family, but I can honestly say that I like all of my family members, so getting to spend time with them is a real treat for me.

In order to see all of my family members, I always head down to Atlanta when the holidays come around. I actually have family members spread throughout the state of Georgia, which is why I always get a rental car in Atlanta. Although everyone always does their best to come together in the same place, I always like having the peace of mind to know that even if someone isn’t going to be able to come to me while I am Atlanta, I will have no problem going to them at some point while I am there.
